Our first rehearsal of the season is an open rehearsal in which prospective members can experience singing with Cantata Academy Chorale. Even if you haven’t yet scheduled your audition, please consider joining us for an evening of music and camaraderie!
Unless otherwise arranged, auditions will be held at our rehearsal venue, First United Methodist Church, 320 W. 7th Street, Royal Oak, MI.
Rehearse with Cantata
Before or after the audition, the singer is invited to rehearse with the Chorale to see if Cantata is a good mutual fit. The Chorale typically rehearses weekly on Sundays from 6:30 pm until 9 pm during the concert year (normally September to June).
A short, informational interview is held with the conductor, to provide more details about the singer’s background and singing experience.
The singer will be asked to vocalize for the director to determine the range and color of the voice, then will perform a prepared classical solo of your choice. An accompanist will be provided.
The singer will identify the key and sightread his or her voice part of a Bach Chorale, a capella.
Prospective members will be notified of results within 48 hours of the audition.
